Knowing that the real estate market in NYC moves extremely fast, my girlfriend and I decided that we needed to consider help from a broker in order to have the best shot at listings. We found Next Step Realty and the rest is history. It was a very convenient process overall. A representative from the office sets up time for a quick call to ask for all of your preferences, budget, etc. Then, the process is very simple: 1) you get paired with a broker; 2) go out on apartment showings; 3) decide on your apartment and that’s it!
Okay… it sounds really quick in the grand scheme, but that’s because our agent played a crucial part in the process. We were paired with Katie Cummings and we can’t thank Katie enough for her extensive knowledge of the market and advice/tips during our apartment search. She asked all the right questions, and set up multiple showings on a day that worked with our busy schedules. After the showings, Katie brought us back to the Next Step office to help us narrow down our apartment choices. She was extremely professional, but we have to mention that it felt more like a friend helping us with this big step in our lives than someone who you just hire to “get the job done”. This really made us feel comfortable and solidified the idea that Next Step and all of its staff are doing something right! You also cannot beat the broker fee, which is much lower than the average rate. Again, Katie was amazing, and really pushed to get us the apartment we wanted for a price that was better for us by negotiating with the listing agent. She was even there on the lease signing day and organized everything.
